Acrylic, 24" x 36" Odissi, also referred to as Orissi and from the state of Odisha. It was performed predominantly by women. It is a dance-drama genre, where the artist(s) and musicians play out a mythical story, a spiritual message. The saree worn by dancers are brightly colored silk. Their hairstyle may contain a moon shaped crest of white flowers. Modern Odissi male performers wear dhoti.
